Noah Mortenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highlands Ranch is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Josh Dave was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cody Dane, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Raiders lost 12-1 to the Golden Eagles. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Raiders, who until this game were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.
Nick Wiley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
The victory got Highlands Ranch back to even at 6-6. As for Regis Jesuit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both Highlands Ranch and Regis Jesuit just can't seem to miss. The Falcons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Regis Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highlands Ranch might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Regis Jesuit in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
