The Hernando Christian Academy Lions lost against the Classical Prep Lions back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hernando Christian Academy took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Classical Prep. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hernando Christian Academy in their matchups with Classical Prep: they've now lost four in a row.
Hernando Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Hendricks, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hendricks has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avery Collins, who scored eight points.
Classical Prep found their leader in underclassman Mia Milanes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Milanes has scored at least 25% of Classical Prep's points. Kaelyn Malloy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hernando Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Classical Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hernando Christian Academy will take on Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bishop McLaughlin Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 two weeks ago. As for Classical Prep, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Families Instructing Students HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th. Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Classical Prep's offense will have their work cut out for Classical Prep.
