The First Academy Eagles lost against the Tavares Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. First Academy fell 58-49 to Tavares.
Despite the defeat, First Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Norflee scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Walsh, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
First Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Tavares, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
First Academy will be playing at home against St. John Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Lutheran is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Tavares, Tavares and Trinity Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
