The Big Foot Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the East Troy Trojans at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Big Foot has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Big Foot is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Jefferson on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to the Eagles. The Chiefs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Big Foot saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Weeks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, East Troy was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Evansville. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Cole Pettijohn was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pettijohn was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jaylen Hoffman was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Thomas Hudock was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
East Troy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Big Foot, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Big Foot's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Chiefs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Troy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Big Foot continue to outrun the ball?
Big Foot might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from East Troy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
