Baseball Recap: Archbishop Shaw Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Archbishop Shaw Eagles didn't have quite enough to beat the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls and fell 5-3.

Nathan Billiot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Archbishop Shaw saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dalton Davidson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Davidson also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Archbishop Shaw has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. The victory (which was Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Shaw will take on L.W. Higgins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, they will face off against Archbishop Shaw at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
