After four games on the road, Williamsport is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Williamsport's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hollidaysburg. While losing is never fun, Williamsport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while Hollidaysburg is ranked 212th).
Pottsville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Lehighton 68-47.
Pottsville's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Letrel Montone, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Alvarez, who scored 13 points.
Williamsport's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-4. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Pottsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Williamsport against Pottsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 65-24 win. Will Williamsport repeat their success, or does Pottsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
