Newark Memorial is a perfect 10-0 against Kennedy since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will square off against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Newark Memorial sitting on nine straight wins and Kennedy on three.
Newark Memorial's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ariana Romo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Romo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrea Tall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mahlyah Sao, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Newark Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Kennedy got the win against American on Thursday by a conclusive 9-0. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Like Newark Memorial, Kennedy also got a great game from a two-way player: Marilyn Rivas. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Rivas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Danica Harper, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Hannah Cornell also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Newark Memorial's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, their record now sits at 10-6.
Both Newark Memorial and Kennedy just can't seem to miss. The Cougars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Newark Memorial took their win against Kennedy when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
