The Lake Worth Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Leonard Lancers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 36-34. Lake Worth has struggled against Leonard recently, as their game on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexandra Reiman, who scored ten points along with three steals. Reiman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Bell, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Worth were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Leonard found their leader in underclassman Euterria Davis, who scored 25 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Leonard's points.
Lake Worth's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Leonard, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Worth and Wellington will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wellington will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Leonard, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Palm Beach Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leonard in Florida (Palm Beach Central is ranked 159th, while Leonard is ranked 491st).
