The Eminence Eels will challenge the Edinburgh Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Eminence took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Irvington Preparatory Academy a 19-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Eels in their matchups with Irvington Preparatory Academy: they've now won five in a row.
Emma Webb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Webb was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Eminence got a massive performance out of Khloee Kirk, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. What's more, Kirk posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Jillian Henderson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Eminence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .719. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Cougars. While the Lancers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Eminence, Edinburgh also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenna Streeval. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Streeval has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shyla Watt was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Ramey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Eminence's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Edinburgh, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eminence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Edinburgh struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eminence suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Edinburgh when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will the Eels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
