The Shiloh Generals fell victim to the Gainesville Red Elephants''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Red Elephants, falling 55-0. While losing is never fun, Shiloh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Gainesville is ranked ninth).
Leading Gainesville to victory were Gavin Hall and Baxter Wright. Hall gained 157 total yards and two touchdowns, while Wright threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Eric Hart did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gainesville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Marshall Leonard and Xavier Griffin who racked up four sacks between them.
This is the second loss in a row for Shiloh and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Gainesville, their win was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Shiloh will take on Lanier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lanier is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Gainesville, they will head out on the road to face off against North Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
