South Lyon East and Walled Lake Northern are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The South Lyon East Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Walled Lake Northern Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Lyon East will be strutting in after a win while Walled Lake Northern will be coming in after a defeat.

South Lyon East was handed a 21-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged Walled Lake Western out 52-49. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Warriors are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 59 points the game before, Walled Lake Northern was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Milford. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Walled Lake Northern's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for South Lyon East, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

South Lyon East strolled past Walled Lake Northern when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 50-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Lyon East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
