The Elyria Catholic Panthers will take on the Marlington Dukes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elyria Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let McKinley get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Kailey Tomasch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Megan Stang looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, Elyria Catholic got a massive performance out of Nadia Pagan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Pagan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Conner, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Elyria Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Marlington got the win against Cloverleaf on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0.
Like Elyria Catholic, Marlington also got a great game from a two-way player: Justine Doringo. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Doringo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Marlington let Makenna Metz and Chelsea Miller run wild. Metz went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Elyria Catholic's record now sits at 23-4. As for Marlington, their record is now 18-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Elyria Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Marlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
