Narraguagus is a perfect 10-0 against Jonesport-Beals since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Knights will welcome the Royals at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Jonesport-Beals will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Narraguagus extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. Everything went the Knights' way against Calais as they made off with a 14-2 win. Fans of the Knights have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Natalie Stanwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only two earned runs while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Paidyn Cashman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylei Lamson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
Narraguagus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jonesport-Beals, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Woodland 12-4 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Royals needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Like Narraguagus, Jonesport-Beals also got a great game from a two-way player: Aspen Alley. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Alley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Macie Faulkingham and Makayla Merchant did most of the damage at the plate: Faulkingham went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, while Merchant went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brenna Alley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Jonesport-Beals pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Narraguagus, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Jonesport-Beals' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Narraguagus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .443. It's a different story for Jonesport-Beals, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Narraguagus' hitters?
Narraguagus skirted past Jonesport-Beals 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
