The Bloomfield Cardinals will face off against the South Knox Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Bloomfield's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while South Knox has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
On Monday, Bloomfield made easy work of Brown County and carried off a 13-5 win. Considering the Cardinals have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ethan Davis and Dillon Warnick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Davis tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Warnick tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Bloomfield: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 2-4 otherwise. At the plate, Davis went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Warnick went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Davis has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Aiden Scott was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Casey Porter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Bloomfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Knox). They never let Loogootee get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Bloomfield's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for South Knox, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.
Bloomfield beat South Knox 10-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
