Fremd has gone 9-1 against Lake Zurich recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Fremd has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Thursday, Fremd didn't have quite enough to beat Buffalo Grove and fell 2-1. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bison 25-18 in the first set.
Fremd came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Lake Zurich was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Forest on Wednesday, taking the game 2-0. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Scouts recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lake Zurich never let Lake Forest on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22.
Fremd better focus on containing Ella Elsen and Malia McManus as the pair were huge in Lake Zurich's win. Elsen had 11 assists and seven digs, while McManus had six digs and three assists. Those three assists gave McManus a new career-high.
Lake Zurich's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Fremd, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.
Fremd came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Zurich in their previous matchup on September 6th, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
