The Armstrong Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Hoopeston by a score of 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hoopeston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Root, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kendrick Sigerill, who scored 13 points.
Armstrong has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Hoopeston, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.
