Basketball Recap: Lab University Prep National Falls Short Against Ranked 1 of 1 Academy

On Thursday, Lab University Prep National faced 1 of 1 Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Lab University Prep National Kings took an 88-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the 1 of 1 Academy -. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (63), the Kings still had to take the loss.

Lab University Prep National's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylen Claggett, who posted 19 points. Claggett is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. Demarco Reynolds was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead 1 of 1 Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gevonte Ware, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Sorrell, who made all 5 shots he took to post 14 points and three steals.

Lab University Prep National's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for 1 of 1 Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Lab University Prep National wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 85-24 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 14th. 1 of 1 Academy will take on Southern California Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:20 p.m. on Monday.
