Gilroy is 0-1 against Silver Creek since November of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Gilroy Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Silver Creek Raiders at 7:15 p.m. Gilroy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-7, which was the final score in Gilroy's tilt against Independence on Friday.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek got themselves on the board against Pioneer on Friday, but Pioneer never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over the Mustangs on the road. The result was nothing new for Silver Creek, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Alonzo Hernandez, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Gilroy's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.25 points per game. As for Silver Creek, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-2.
Gilroy lost to Silver Creek on the road by a decisive 19-0 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Gilroy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
