Belfast and Mount View are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lions will square off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Belfast has five straight wins, Mount View has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Belfast duked it out with Waterville on Friday. The Lions blew past the Panthers 11-2. Considering the Lions have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aidan Howard made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
