Nichols and the Gators are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Nichols Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Nardin Academy Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Nichols is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
On Saturday, Nichols came up short against the Legends and fell 49-37. Nichols has not had much luck with the Legends recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madisen Wilson, who scored 15 points along with four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Evelyn Walcott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nardin Academy took a serious blow against the Hawks on Friday, falling 67-20. While losing is never fun, Nardin Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Hawks are ranked fourth).
Nichols' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Nardin Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Nichols was able to grind out a solid win over the Gators in their previous matchup back in January, winning 59-47. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Nardin Academy's Lily Saleh, who scored 20 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Nichols still be able to contain Saleh? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
