Mountain View and Los Altos are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Altos took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain View, who comes in off a win.
Mountain View will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Gunn on Thursday. The Spartans blew past the Titans 10-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spartans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Caroline Kim made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kasey Spaulding, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Raven Rasmussen-Dailey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Los Altos came up short against Homestead on Thursday and fell 6-2.
Kaylyn Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits.
At the plate, Makayla Mase was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Los Altos' defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at 9-10.
Los Altos' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Mountain View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Los Altos, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Mountain View keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Mountain View couldn't quite get it done against Los Altos in their previous matchup on Tuesday as they fell 5-2. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
