The Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Coolidge Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering is looking for their season's first win.
Monday just wasn't the day for Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering's offense. They came up short against School Without Walls on Monday, falling 22-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coolidge). Everything went their way against Woodson on Monday as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The Colts not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024 (when they won 18-4).
Rodrigo Cabrera-Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. Cabrera-Garcia was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Jose Leiva was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Fransisco Leiva was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Coolidge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Coolidge's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10. As for Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering might still be hurting after the 18-4 loss they got from Coolidge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
