The Celeste Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Campbell Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Celeste has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Campbell will arrive with three straight victories.
Cooper hit Celeste with a six-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-1.
Campbell came out on top against Saltillo on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Indians blew past the Lions 11-1. Considering the Indians have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Drake Sweeney was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Campbell is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Sweeney was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.
In other batting news, Alex Rosado and Matthew Sweeney did most of the damage at the plate: Rosado got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Matthew got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. Sweeney has become a key player for Campbell: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Karter Mccormack also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Campbell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Campbell's record is now 9-4. As for Celeste, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
Everything went Celeste's way against Campbell in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Celeste made off with a 16-1 win. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
