The DeMatha Stags and the St. John Bosco Braves (ranked 18 and nine in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest. DeMatha took a 71-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John Bosco. It was the first time this season that DeMatha let down their fans at home.
Several Stags players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashton (ace) Meeks, who scored 19 points. The game was Meeks' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Kade Sebastian was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
DeMatha's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2. As for St. John Bosco, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
DeMatha will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bishop McNamara at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. St. John Bosco and Clovis North will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Clovis North has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 774 points over their last ten matches.
