Meanwhile, Thomson was able to grind out a solid win over Putnam County on Saturday, taking the game 57-45. Given Thomson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Putnam County is ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jada Kendrick, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Jazzlyn Crenshaw was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Butler is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Thomson, their win bumped their record up to 20-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Butler have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game.
