The Limon Badgers entered their tilt with the Calhan Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Limon came out on top against Calhan by a score of 53-43 on Tuesday. Given Limon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Calhan is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jentri Marx continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Katelyn Tacha was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Calhan had strong showings from Kailey Peterson, who scored 13 points along with nine steals, and Kylee Barnes, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peterson has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Calhan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Limon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Calhan, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Limon will take on Flagler at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Jaylie Stone and Marx. As for Calhan, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Burlington at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Burlington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
