Peyton Conley and Madi Owens did most of the damage at the plate: Conley went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Owens went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Owens is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Orecchio, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian). They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Tygarts Valley on Wednesday. The Warriors have beaten the Bulldogs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Paige Hopkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Hopkins was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Peyton Moore was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josalyn Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Trinity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Madonna's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Everything went Madonna's way against Trinity Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Madonna made off with a 9-1 victory. Will the Blue Dons repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
