The Blount Leopards pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mary G. Montgomery. While losing is never fun, Blount can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Mary G. Montgomery is ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Blount still got an impressive performance from Andrew Williams, who scored 26 points along with 3 steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jaiden Beck was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Blount's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mary G. Montgomery, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blount will take on Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Theodore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Theodore is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
