Ezekiel Academy hasn't had much luck against Abbeville Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will challenge the Generals at 7:00 p.m. Ezekiel Academy has given up an average of 53.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Ezekiel Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-67 to Springwood.
Despite their defeat, Ezekiel Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Justice Dakwa, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 12 points along with six rebounds and five blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Taylor, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.
Meanwhile, Abbeville Christian Academy strolled into their game last Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Valiant Cross Academy as they made off with a 70-49 win. The Generals pushed the score to 58-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.
Abbeville Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Ezekiel Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dee Glover, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Glover is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Macen Brown, who posted 12 points and five assists.
Abbeville Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.
Ezekiel Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Ezekiel Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67.2 points per game. However, it's not like Abbeville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Ezekiel Academy was dealt a bruising 76-37 defeat at the hands of Abbeville Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Knights were down 39-19.
