Basketball Recap: Bruton Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Bruton entered their tilt with Lafayette on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 64-55 win over the Lafayette Rams. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 76-69 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bruton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Freeman has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Griffin, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kijaun Wyatt, who posted 16 points and five steals. Wyatt is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Wayne Santos was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Bruton pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Lafayette, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bruton Panthers take on the Warhill Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Warhill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to take on New Kent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. New Kent knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Lafayette likes a good challenge.
