Smiths Station added to the longest winning streak in 6A Region 3 this week by beating Beauregard, 28-9. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Carver took down Tri-Cities 50-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mike Mckenny threw for 271 yards and 6 touchdowns and ran for 24 yards in the win.
The Wolverines' dynamic duo of Mckenny and Charles Standberry proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Landy Capetillo helped Carver's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 104 yards.
He was 19-33 with 0 interception.
Auburn's Bradley Northcutt and Kyle Sikes have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Northcutt has thrown for 765 yards this season, while Sikes has 17 catches for 375 yards. Opelika's Reggie Hall leads the league in rushing yards with 606.
The Tigers' offense has recorded 189 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Carver has permitted only 65 on the year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Auburn and Billy Gresham's team face off next week.
As it stands, the Wolverines are in third, while Tim Carter's team is in fourth.
Smiths Station made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 418 from 510. The improvement was the result of a 28-9 victory over the Hornets last week.
