Denbigh Baptist Christian came out on top against Broadwater Academy by a score of 30-19 on Monday. That's two games straight that Denbigh Baptist Christian has won by exactly 11 points.
Payten Gary was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Denbigh Baptist Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Stewart, who scored five points along with nine steals.
Despite the loss, Broadwater Academy still got an impressive performance from Leah Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
The victory makes it two in a row for Denbigh Baptist Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Broadwater Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denbigh Baptist Christian will take on Hampton Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Broadwater Academy, they will be playing at home against Holly Grove Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Holly Grove Christian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
