The Castro Valley Trojans will take on the Granada Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Castro Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Berkeley on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets a 9-0 shutout.

Alanys Robertson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Giselle De Casas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Luz-Reynosa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Castro Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granada). They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over Dougherty Valley on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Like Castro Valley, Granada also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaitlyn Cannella. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cannella was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madeline Bittman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Evelyn Soto was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Castro Valley's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Granada, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Castro Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Granada struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castro Valley couldn't quite get it done against Granada in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
