The Duluth East Greyhounds have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over Tartan on Tuesday. Duluth East's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Annabel Ngue and Anya Murphy certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Ngue dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Murphy dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Tartan were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Duluth East's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Tartan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duluth East will finish 2023 at home by hosting Coon Rapids at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tartan, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Woodbury at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Woodbury presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tartan in Minnesota (Woodbury is ranked 98th, while Tartan is ranked 308th).
