Even though the Therrell Panthers scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, the Mount Paran Christian Eagles still came out on top. Mount Paran Christian had just enough and edged Therrell out 72-69. Given Mount Paran Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Therrell is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Mount Paran Christian to victory were Christopher Park and Tony LoPresti. Park scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds, while LoPresti scored 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was Park's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Andric Parent was another key contributor, scoring 2 points along with 10 rebounds and 8 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Mount Paran Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Therrell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Paran Christian will take on Drew Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Therrell, they will head out on the road to face off against South Atlanta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Atlanta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
