Crestview is 8-2 against Mapleton since September of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Mounties at 6:30 p.m. Mapleton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Crestview, who comes in off a win.
It was a proper cat-fight when Crestview challenged New London on Thursday. The Cougars skirted past the Wildcats 3-2. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Wildcats on their court since October 7, 2021.
Crestview was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-6.
Crestview found their leader in sophomore Kenlie Keefer, who had 19 digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Makenna Tacket, who had five digs and three aces.
Crestview was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New London only served seven.
Meanwhile, Mapleton came up short against Wellington on Monday and fell 3-1.
While Mapleton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-18, 16-25, 25-19.
Mapleton has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Crestview, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Crestview beat Mapleton 3-1 in their previous meeting on September 4th. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mounties turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
