Regis is a perfect 4-0 against Oakridge since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Regis Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Oakridge Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row dating back to last season, Regis turned things around against Waldport on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Irish as they made off with a 15-1 win. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Owen Eaton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eaton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korben Schumacher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Rook Smith, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Regis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oakridge can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Country Christian.
Like Regis, Oakridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Kayden Tiller. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Tiller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, Jasper Spoon was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base. Quinton Barker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Regis' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Oakridge, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Regis took their victory against Oakridge when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 17-7. Will Regis repeat their success, or does Oakridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
