The Whittier Christian Heralds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 84-59 walloping at the hands of Sunny Hills. Whittier Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-15.
Despite the loss, Whittier Christian still got an impressive performance from Aaron Henry, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Leland Carrido, who scored 11 points.
Sunny Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Shim led the charge by scoring 11 points. Another player making a difference was Raeden Bobadilla, who scored 12 points.
Whittier Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Sunny Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whittier Christian and Valley Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Valley Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Whittier Christian in California (Valley Christian is ranked 203rd, while Whittier Christian is ranked 859th). As for Sunny Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Baylor Wilks and Kingsley Ashley.
