Mater Dei and the Lancers are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Mater Dei Knights will head out on the road to take on the Belleville East Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Dei is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Mater Dei didn't have too much trouble with the Rockets on the road as they won 55-40.
Alyssa Koerkenmeier was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Avery Trame, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Belleville East was beaten by the Panthers 62-32 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Belleville East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Panthers are ranked 17th).
Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 21-6 record this season. As for Belleville East, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
Mater Dei beat the Lancers 54-41 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Mater Dei have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
