The Lake Marion Gators came into Saturday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 44-40 W over Calhoun County on Saturday.
It was another big night for Teonna Allen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rayleigh Davis, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cassidy Pough, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Pough is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played. Raniya Tyler was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lake Marion's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12. As for Calhoun County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Marion will take on the Landsharks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oceanside Collegiate Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Calhoun County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
