The Dixie Flyers suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Desert Hills by a score of 44-42. Dixie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Desert Hills apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Dixie still got an impressive performance from Kealah Faumuina, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 57.1% of Dixie's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hali Smith, who scored six points along with eight steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Dixie and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Desert Hills, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will take on Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Cedar is ranked 21st, while Dixie is ranked 42nd). As for Desert Hills, they will play host again and welcome Snow Canyon, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Snow Canyon is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
