Northwest extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-3. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Hastings Saxons. The Mounties have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Saxons, too.

As for Hastings, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Even if they couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

For Hastings' part, Colten Denton and Jonah Hamp stepped up to the plate in a big way. Denton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hamp went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Spencer Wilkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Northwest will venture away from home to take on Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mounties' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Hastings, they are taking a road trip to challenge Thornapple Kellogg at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
