The Alliance Aviators lost against the Washington Tigers back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Alliance received a tough blow as they fell 61-46 to Washington. While losing is never fun, Alliance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while Washington is ranked 170th).
Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Nicola out in front who scored 20 points along with four steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Makiya Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Alliance's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alliance's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Loudonville at 1:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Loudonville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Alliance likes a good challenge. Washington will be home for the holidays to greet Buchtel at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
