Baseball Recap: Luverne's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Luverne waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Windom Eagles 12-2. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Landon Ahrendt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ahrendt was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maddux Domagala was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Blake Sauer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Luverne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windom only posted an OBP of .333.

Luverne's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Windom, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luverne will head out to square off against Sleepy Eye at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Windom, they will venture away from home to face off against Martin County West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
