After flying high against the Elkhart Elks last Tuesday, the Fairfield Eagles came back down to earth. Fairfield fell 81-70 to Westwood on Friday. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 907th, while Westwood is ranked 308th).
Kavian Bryant was his usual excellent self, scoring 46 points along with six assists for Westwood. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Carter, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Fairfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Westwood, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will take on Teague at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Teague focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Westwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. Franklin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three matches.
