Los Alamos is a perfect 10-0 against Taos since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers will head out to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Los Alamos is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
On Saturday, Los Alamos made easy work of Espanola Valley and carried off a 16-10 win. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
Taos not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 12-2). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Pojoaque Valley. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Elks/Elkettes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Christian Fresquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Miguel Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mario Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Los Alamos pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Taos, their record is now 10-12.
Los Alamos took their win against Taos in their previous meeting on Monday by a conclusive 17-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
