The Mendota Trojans will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Newman Central Catholic Comets at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. Mendota comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-20, which was the final score in Mendota's tilt against the Boilermakers on Monday.
Meanwhile, Newman Central Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 45-39 to the Tigers. Newman Central Catholic has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Mendota has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season. As for Newman Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.
Mendota took a serious blow against the Comets when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 55-28. Can Mendota avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
