Heritage Christian is 0-8 against HomeSchool Resource Center since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Heritage Christian Defenders will head out on the road to face off against the HomeSchool Resource Center Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Heritage Christian pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Kankakee Trinity Academy by a score of 61-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Heritage Christian still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ivan Smits, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Regnerus, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, HomeSchool Resource Center's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 67-43 loss at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, HomeSchool Resource Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 358th in Illinois, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked 67th in Indiana).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason O'Neal, who scored 21 points. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Baldridge was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Heritage Christian and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for HomeSchool Resource Center, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Heritage Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like HomeSchool Resource Center struggles in that department as they've been even better at 31.4 per game.
