The St. Patrick Fighting Irish can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 77-41 win over West Marion at home. Given St. Patrick's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while West Marion is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Matt Krass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Patrick's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Triplett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
St. Patrick pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for West Marion, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Patrick will take on Perry Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Marion, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mendenhall at 2:00 p.m.
