Despite the defeat, Florence saw an underclassman step up: Emerson Herring scored eight points. Herring scored a full 33.3% of Florence's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hamilton was led to victory by Avery Arledge and Kelton Wright. Arledge dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 steals, while Wright scored 31 points along with five assists. The match was Wright's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Laney Lane was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Florence's loss was their ninth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.2 points per game. As for Hamilton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will challenge Llano at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hamilton, they will head out on the road to face off against Itasca at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Itasca will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 973rd, while Hamilton is ranked 342nd).
